The Gail Borden Public Library Presents Tapestry of Freedom.
A Tapestry of Freedom spotlights the faces, expressions and histories of freedom. Its goal is to promote harmony, respect and unity among diverse ethnic, socio-economic and generational groups. This four-month endeavor begins in February and will bring people together to celebrate black history, women’s history, cultural diversity and preservation.
A highlight of A Tapestry of Freedom is the scheduled appearance of the National Endowment for the Humanities/American Library Association traveling exhibit “Forever Free: Abraham Lincoln’s Journey to Emancipation” at the library April 17 to May 30, 2008. Other exciting elements of the program will include author appearances, historical displays, hands-on activities and digital storytelling featuring area veterans.
